Welcome, Blood Bowl fans! I am, as always, Skeezix, your humble scribe, as we stand once again at the beginning of a new season of Blood Bowl action. This season, we introduce a new two stage system, as we slice our way from 6 teams down to an eventual champion. Today, we will introduce you to the new field of teams that have entered the fray from all over the Known World.

The Baltimore Oreos
All the pieces matter
The Baltimore Oreos are the only elven team in the competition this time. Elves have tended to do well here in the Asylum, but we have a number of very dangerous teams competing here, so it remains to be seen how many will be left standing after the first stage. The Oreos are led by their solid lineelves Poot and Wallace, but against such a murderers row of competition, will likely have to rely on their agility and the prowess of their passing game with thrower Cedric Daniels and catchers Kima Greggs and Bodie Broadus.

The BloodBasket Players
FILL UP THE BASKET!!!
These young orcs are the touring arm of the BloodBasket Blood Bowl group. Here in the Asylum, they follow in the footsteps of the orc team Breaking Bad, who racked up a middling record of 2-3-1 in the previous season. But the BloodBasket brand has a reputation for being a more high flying sort of orc. Will we see any of the acrobatic passing game of their big brothers? Up and coming thrower Shrek might have something to say about that, while the strong core of black orcs will try to open lanes for the diminutive but mighty Mighty Napoleon.

The Centaurions
We like to hoof it, hoof it… HOOF IT!
The first Chaos team to enter the Asylum, they bring 8 hooves of pummeling centaur speed, and 6 legs of pummeling dwarven… uh, not speed. Led by the hobgoblin Gret Greenblood, the power of this team is definitely up front with the centaurs Wargrakh Fastlegs and Leodippos Fastblaster, and the hulking minotaur Warrnack Ironpunch. Gret is known to lead a dirty hobgoblin core, so this could be a volatile team, depending on Gret’s ability to manage the refs. Will their speed overcome their not speed? Will Gret survive to lead his team into the second stage? Stay tuned to find out!

The Kornish Pixies
Blood for the Pixie God!
The Asylum is overrun by Chaos this time, as the Kornish Pixies join the Centaurions as the only Chaos teams ever to enter. Up front, you’ll find the always formidable Chaos Warrior core, with captain Harry Potter alongside Hermione Granger and Albus Dumbledore. Backed by a strong squad of beastmen, teams will also have to keep an eye on Ron Weasley, the red-furred minotaur whose appetite for destruction is already making his a feared name on the Blood Bowl pitch.

Quoth the Skaven
And thy dreams of glory faded, shall be gifted…
The second Skaven team to enter our competition, they hope to repeat the success of the first season Cheesy Boi team that ran rings ’round the competition on the way to a 4-0-0 record. This team is anchored by the rat ogre Henry Jekill and a pair of quality storm vermin, but teams would be wise not to lose sight of team captain and thrower Furrian Grey. These are a more pensive and literate squad than the aforementioned Cheesy Boi, but the gutter runners Roderick Rusher and Mina Darkfur must not be taken lightly, lest they leave their enemies behind in a cloud of fleas and dander.

The Vixen Bleeders
Fear the jungle…
Our final team hails from the jungles of Lustria. Fierce warriors, but with an agility born in the jungles, they may prove to be difficult to keep up with. They bring a strong blitzer contingent comprised of Amazonian nobility, led by Princess Yue and their mysterious captain known only as the Queen of the Kill. If the line can manage to keep the opponent pinned down, their versatile attack of multiple passers and catchers could make life difficult for some of the less acrobatic teams.
I hope you will continue to join me as we move into the season proper. Good luck to all our entrants, may Nuffle smile on you. I hope to see some of you survive to the second round.
